Johann Hennrich Silvius (sig1)
Johann Hennrich Silvius (sig2)

Mrs. Mary Cole submits these two samples of Johann Hennrich Silvius' signature. The signatures were copied from 'Pennsylvania German Pioneers' a publication of the Original Lists of Arrivals In the Port of Philadelphia from 1727 to 1808. by Ralph Beaver Strassburger, LL.D. President of the Pennsylvania German Society. Edited by William John Hinke, Ph.D.,D.D. in Three Volumes - Volume II Facsimile Signatures 1727-1775 Pennsylvania German Society - Norristown, Pennsylvania 1934 edition. I believe later editions omitted the signatures.

The list for the Queen Elizabeth Sep 1738 - lists our ancestor as Johann Henrich Silvius. From then on he is called Henry or some form of this.

1743 - christening of son Nicholas - father called Henrich Sylvius
1747 - warrant index - Henry Silvius
1776 - letter of Adm. for his estate - Henry Silvius

This is the reason I have always called him Henry. When I started working with others - they thought it better he be called J. Henry. This is the reason on my chart I call him 1.J. Henry.
